Check Out the New App for Digital Audiobooks and Magazines

By Jamie W. RSS Fri, April 20, 2018

Two of our most popular digital resources are getting a new home on your mobile device. RBDigital Audiobooks and RBDigital Magazines (formerly Zinio)  are now both available through the RBDigital App.  This change will bring the best and latest digital audiobooks as well as current newsstand magazines together in one app.  Same username, same password, but now with more great content.

To start using the new app, simply add RBDigital for IOS or Android to your device. These apps will replace the Zinio for Libraries app you're likely used to. However, your username and password will remain the same.

If you're new to our RBDigital audiobook and magazine collections, it's easy to get started.  Visit RBDigital from our Digital Media page to set up an account. Once you have your username and password, you can add the app to your device.

You will find new magazines constantly added to the app as they hit newsstands; new audiobooks are added weekly. As a reminder, each library card holder can check out up to six digital audiobooks at a time. Audiobooks that are currently checked out by another user can be put on hold.  Magazine checkouts are unlimited and are always available.

Give it a try today!

Thanks for your question. You can use either the app or the website to checkout and read magazines. The important things is that you go through the link to RBDigital from our website (http://libwww.freelibrary.org/databases/featured.cfm?subjects=digital-media) the first time when you register and create an account. That is when you will need to provide your library card number so RBDigital knows you're a Free Library cardholder. Then, once your account is set up, you can go to the app and login using the same username and password you created when you registered on the site.

For the third time I have had to delete the RBDigital app from my iPhone because it "hung up." I successfully downloaded a book, so it said, only to reach the end of chapter 25, when it said "chapter 6 downloading and hung up. This is not the first time this has occurred when the only recourse is to delete the app and reload how, annoying especially when it occurs with no wifi available. I have contacted the customer support and their directions are what I have followed. Overdrive is much more dependable.
