Pennsylvania Teen Health Week

By Ann P. RSS Mon, January 9, 2017

Pennsylvania Teen Health Week 2017 takes place January 9-13. The second annual state-wide week of awareness is unique in that it focuses on a holistic view of teen health and seeks to raise awareness of the health issues facing Pennsylvania teens. Through a variety of programs and activities, teens are encouraged to take charge of their physical and mental health to facilitate healthy choices they will carry throughout their lives. Teen Health Week was started by Dr. Laura Offutt (who also runs the very informative and resource-laden website Real Talk with Dr. Offutt), the Center for Education and Public Initiatives at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Each day this week will focus on a specific aspect of teen health:

  • Monday, January 9: Nutrition and Fitness
  • Tuesday, January 10: Violence Prevention
  • Wednesday, January 11: Mental Health
  • Thursday, January 12: Sexual Health
  • Friday, January 13: Substance Use

Free Library of Philadelphia will be participating throughout the week with events such as:
