Quality Pre-K Is Expanding In Philadelphia!

By Kate C. RSS Fri, December 9, 2016

The City of Philadelphia has announced that it is expanding free, quality pre-K for 6,500 three- and four-year-olds over the next five years, with the first 2,000 seats available now!

Families interested in the programs should act now, as classes begin on January 4 at more than 70 locations. Spots are filling up fast! Parents can call 844-PHL-PREK (844-745-7735) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every Monday through Friday to speak with a trained professional who will help them locate and apply to quality pre-K programs nearby.

Quality pre-K and child care programs offer engaging, appropriate activities in settings that facilitate healthy growth and development and prepare children for success in school.

The Free Library of Philadelphia is committed to fostering strong literacy skills in the city’s littlest learners, through programs like Read by 4th, the Words at Play Vocabulary Initiative, and the Literacy Enrichment After-School program (LEAP), in addition to regular storytimes and children’s activities in neighborhood library locations.  For more information about the new pre-K program, visit PHLprek.org.

Hi, I have a son DOB 3/15/15, wanted to inquire on pre-K for him. Are the seats based on income qualification? Thanks! Gregory
