New Summer Reading Resources & Activities for All Age Groups!

By Becky F. RSS Mon, July 18, 2016

Looking for new ways to participate in Summer Reading with the Free Library of Philadelphia? We’ve got brand new activity ideas for all age groups:

ReadyRosie
An online parent engagement tool, ReadyRosie develops English and Spanish videos to promote early childhood learning inside the home, at the supermarket, or even on the go. Video subjects range from practicing facial movements with babies to learning about directions with toddlers. Every video is designed with families in mind and serves as a great resource for parents hoping to actively participate in their kids’ pre-K education.

Read & Ring
Did you read a great book this summer? Recommend it to a family member, a friend, or even Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney! Mayor Kenney is asking children across the city to give him a call and to tell him what books they’re reading. Here’s the Mayor’s number—leave him a message today! 267-689-READ (7323)

Learning Tracks
Browse our new selection of online Summer Reading activity ideas for adults. If you’re interested in researching your family’s genealogy, looking at pictures of Philadelphia from 150 years ago, or just being entered into a weekly raffle for listening to the “Hamilton” soundtrack, then visit us online and view our brand new learning tracks. Earn badges as you complete them and you’ll automatically be entered into a grand prize finale happening at the end of the summer!

Be sure to check back for other fun and engaging activities happening at Free Library locations across the city and for more ways to get involved in the FLP’s Summer of Wonder from home, too!

Happy reading, Philadelphia!
