Join us for an exciting author and illustrator presentation with Nadia Salomon and London Ladd who will both be in Philadelphia for the American Library Association Annual Conference.  

A VOICE OF HOPE just won the Black Caucus of the American Library Association's BCALA Literary Awards, School Library Journal Children & Youth Literary Award for non-fiction, a 2025 Notable Social Studies Trade Book Award, and received two starred reviews from School Library Journal and the Horn Book.  In addition, A VOICE OF HOPE is now a 2025 Bank Street Best Children's Book of the Year award winner for books published in 2024. 

Nadia Salomon has a new book, A RAKHI FOR RAKESH, due out in July. It's a sibling story that explores big emotions, empathy, and forgiveness. It's set against the sibling holiday, Raksha Bandhan.

Nadia Salomon is an award-winning journalist who holds a journalism degree from Emerson College. She is the author of Goodnight Ganesha, a Bank Street Best Children’s Book and an ALSC Día Selection. A Voice of Hope is her acclaimed release. It received the 2025 BCALA, SLJ Children and Youth Literary Award and a 2025 Notable Social Studies Trade Book award, and two starred reviews from SLJ and the Horn Book. Nadia's upcoming title, A RAKHI FOR RAKESH releases in July with HarperCollins (Versify). She works closely with SCBWI, 12x12 Challenge, Kids Comics Unite, and Storyteller Academy. London Ladd is an award-winning illustrator who has featured artwork in numerous publications such as HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, the New York Times, Scientific American, and community-based murals throughout Syracuse. He received recognition from the American Library Association, Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, Communication Arts, World Illustration Awards, 3x3 Magazine, and multiple NAACP Image Award nominations. Ladd utilizes various materials, such as acrylic paint, cut paper, and tissue paper, to create vibrant textures throughout his artwork. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Teaching Professor at Syracuse University, where he received his BFA and MFA degrees in illustration.

This event will take place in the Montgomery Auditorium, ground floor.
