In this evening’s talk Bob Weinberg of Swarthmore College will explore anti-Jewish visual imagery from the late tsarist era to the early years of the Soviet Union to reveal popular and official attitudes toward and perceptions of Russian and Soviet Jewry.

Bob Weinberg is the Isaac H. Clothier Professor of History at Swarthmore College, where he teaches courses on Russian, Soviet, European, and Jewish history. His research focuses on the history of the Jewish Question in Russia and the Soviet Union, and he has published books and articles about pogroms, the Jewish Autonomous Region, ritual murder, the Revolution of 1905 in Odessa, and the campaign against Judaism.  His most recent book is Jews Under Tsars and Communists.
