
29th Season of Monday Poets Continues!
Join us as we kick off one the longest continously running programs at FLP! Monday Poets 29th season and this year we are back onsite and the readings will take place in the Literature Department on the second floor. Please mark your calendars for the third Monday of each month to join us for this series.
Sojourner Ahebee archives moments of intimacy between Black women. She writes about insecurity of historical archives and insecurity as a feeling that connects us to our most powerful desires. Her work has appeared in The Atlantic, NPR, The Academy of American Poets, WHYY, MSNBC & on your grandmother’s radio. A recipient of the MacDowell Colony creative writing fellowship, her debut poetry chapbook, "Reporting from the Belly of the Night," was released in 2017.
Husnaa Haajarah Hashim is a poet, interdisciplinary artist, student herbalist, and University of Pennsylvania graduate. A Philadelphia Youth Poet Laureate (2017-2018), Husnaa is the author of the chapbook Honey Sequence (The Head & The Hand, 2018). Her work has appeared in Apiary, On Being, Rookie, Elixr Coffee’s Heart on Your Sleeve coffee cup sleeves, and Short Édition’s Short Story Dispenser vending machine in Paris, France.
This event as with all the Monday Poets events is free and open to the public. If the poet wishes to bring their books for sale they will. Please come out and enjoy the beauty of hearing out loud poetry written and read by some of our finest poets today.
