The Free Library of Philadelphia is pleased to provide free access to the Internet for all Free Library users, whether they visit one of our 55 neighborhood locations or visit us online.
Consistent with acceptable library practices, our Collection Development Office evaluates and recommends websites by subject, just as it has always done for books and other materials. Recommended sites can be found on our site behind the FLP Weblinks button and in our online catalog. Additionally, all of our neighborhood locations offer instruction for children and adults on safe and productive use of the Internet. Please contact your neighborhood library for additional information.
The Library has complied with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) by installing on all computers a filter that blocks or filters Internet access to visual depictions that are obscene, child pornography, and harmful to minors.
No filter or procedures can totally eliminate material which may be inappropriate for some children or offensive to some people. Parents are urged to monitor Internet use of their children just as they monitor their children’s reading.
