General Colin Powell served as Secretary of State under President George W. Bush and National Security Advisor to President Reagan. The retired four-star general is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and two Presidential Medals of Freedom. As Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President George H.W. Bush, Powell became a national figure during the Desert Shield and Desert Storm operations in Kuwait. He is the author of My American Journey, a no. 1 New York Times bestseller and "great American success story" (New York Times Book Review). It Worked for Me, co-written with Tony Koltz, is a collection of lessons that have shaped the General's career as a leader in public service.
