Henry Miller predicted that Erica Jong’s Fear of Flying would “make literary history, that because of it, women are going to find their own voice and give us great sagas of sex, life, joy, and adventure.” The book became an international best seller with almost 12 million copies in print. Jong continued her success with numerous books of poetry and nonfiction, including the popular memoir Fear of Fifty. Set in the ancient world, her latest novel, Sappho’s Leap, is an odyssey about the great lyric poet.
