One of the country's leading social philosophers, Francis Fukuyama teaches at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University and is the author of The End of History and the Last Man. In Our Postmodern Future, Fukuyama describes the potential effects of our current exploration of DNA and “germ-line” manipulation on the founding premise of liberal democracy: the belief that human beings are equal by nature.
