Wayne Pacelle | The Bond: Our Kinship with Animals, Our Call to Defend Them
As president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States—the world's largest animal protection organization—Wayne Pacelle leads 11 million members and constituents in confronting animal cruelty. He has worked for the passage of more than 500 new state laws and helped to pass more than 25 federal statutes to protect animals in the last decade. As Carla Hall reported in the Los Angeles Times in 2008, "Pacelle has retooled a venerable organization seen as a mild-mannered protector of dogs and cats into an aggressive interest group flexing muscle in state legislatures and courtrooms." The Bond is Pacelle's engaging and urgent rallying cry to repair our relationship with the animal kingdom.
