Walter Dean Myers is "arguably one of the most important writers of children's books of our age," according to a reviewer for Kirkus. The winner of two Newbery Honor awards, five Coretta Scott King Awards, and the Michael L. Printz Award, among many others, Myers's books include Fallen Angels, Harlem: A Poem, Lockdown, and Monster. His new book is a retelling of the classic Bizet opera, set in modern Spanish Harlem.
