Mapplethorpe's iconic photograph of Smith graces the cover of her seminal album Horses, named one of Rolling Stone’s 100 greatest albums of all time. A celebrated and prolific writer, performer, and artist, Smith is the author of five books, including Witt and Babel, she has recorded 12 acclaimed albums, and her artwork is shown worldwide.
