One of the godfathers of modern black cinema and theater, Melvin Van Peebles directed the legendary film Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song, won multiple Drama Desk Awards for his Broadway musical Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death, and has earned 11 Tony nominations to date. A tie-in to an eponymous new film, Confessions is a graphic novel about a soul-searching world traveler looking for love.
