Ada Louise Huxtable, the doyenne of American architecture critics, became the first newspaper architecture critic when she joined the New York Times in 1964. In 1970, she won the first Pulitzer Prize awarded for distinguished criticism. A three point value system of quality, integrity, and continuity, anchor her views on architecture. Her books include Kicked A Building Lately?, a collection of essays, and The Unreal America: Architecture and Illusion, a critique of modern historical preservation.
