The author of Ghost World and David Boring, Daniel Clowes is widely regarded as one of the most brilliant cartoonists of his generation. His ongoing comic, Eightball, was one of the most talked-about series of the 1990s, and the film version of Ghost World, starring Thora Birch and Scarlett Johansson, won an Academy Award in 2001. Clowes's second screenplay, Art School Confidential, is currently in production. In Ice Haven, Clowes tells the interlocking stories of a sleepy mid-western town inspired by the 1924 murder trial of Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb.
