Breyten Breytenbach | All One Horse
South African native Breyten Breytenbach is a distinguished painter, activist, and writer of more than 30 books of poetry and prose. A vocal critic and committed opponent of apartheid, he founded the resistance group Okhela in the 1970s and spent seven years as a political prisoner in solitary confinement as a result. His most renowned work is his four-volume memoir: A Season in Paradise, The True Confessions of an Albino Terrorist, Return to Paradise, and Dog Heart: A Memoir. All One Horse is a thoughtful and haunting collection of Breytenbach’s artwork and short lyrical prose pieces inspired by Eastern thought and tradition.
