Born of ethnic Italian parentage in Pula on the Istrian peninsula in northern Italy (now Croatia), Lidia Bastianich came to America at age twelve, and opened her first restaurant in Queens, NY at twenty-four. Today Lidia, a world-renowned chef, is co-owner of two of Manhattan's finest restaurants, Felidia and Becco, as well as Lidia's Kansas City and Lidia's Pittsburgh. Each week on her PBS cooking show, Lidia's Italian-American Kitchen, Lidia invites us into her home kitchen for lessons in Italian cuisine, and to her table with her trademark: "Tutti a tavola a mangiare!"
