Mark Taylor, a longtime music journalist, chronicles their rise and fall of one of the great girl groups of Motown in The Original Marvelettes. At a time when most girl groups merely swayed back and forth on the stage, the Marvelettes came out of nowhere to take on the music world and give Motown its first #1 pop record, “Please Mr. Postman.” Their sexy, sultry sound kept them on the Billboard charts with hits like “Don’t Mess with Bill.”
Eleanor "Cookie" Harriswill sing some of their hits.
