Most famous for his roles as morally murky yet methodical homicide detective Bunk Moreland in The Wire and trombonist Antoine Batiste in Treme, Wendell Pierce has appeared in more than 30 films, 50 television shows, and dozens of stage productions. He was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead for the 2013 film Four, and won a 2012 Tony Award for Best Play for his production of Clybourne Park. The Wind in the Reeds is a memoir of Pierce’s New Orleans family, history, and art, and the post-Katrina reconstruction of his Pontchartrain Park neighborhood.
