Taylor Branch received the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award for America in the King Years, a landmark three-volume history of the Civil Rights Movement. Branch’s other works include The Cartel and The Clinton Tapes. Recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, the National Humanities Medal, and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Branch lectures widely on civil rights and nonviolence. The King Years thoughtfully sets pivotal scenes of the Civil Rights Movement into historical context, abridging the evolution from bus strike to political revolution.
