Translation:

Peter George was born into the world to these two married people namely the honorable Peter George and his beloved wife Magdalena, a born Nelig, on the 5th of April in the year of our Lord and Savior 1834, and on the 27th of July was cleansed through the holy bath of baptism and incorporated into the Christian community by the honorable Mr. N. P. Hacke, Reformed preacher. Sponsors were his beloved mother herself. In Pennsylvania, Westmoreland County, Franklin Township.

[in left heart]
Lord, guide my spirit’s gaze from this turmoil of the world toward you, toward my soul’s happiness, toward eternity and heaven. The world with its splendor decays and lasts only a short time; my life shall be in heaven.

[in right heart]
I am baptized to this fortune, O Lord, through your suffering. I am baptized on your death, who wants to separate me from you? You are inscribing me into your hand, Lord! I know you, you know me, mine are the joys of heaven.
