Image of the former Carman Theatre, built in 1928 by architect William Ellis Groben.  It boasted seating for more than 2200 people, and also presented live vaudville shows.  Although the marquee in this photograph reads "Temporarily Closed," it was never reopened again as a theater.  Rather, by the 1970s, it was used to store motor vehicles, before being torn down in 1978.  This 1973 color photographic print was taken by Philadelphia photographer Dr. Harry Drasin in Philadelphia.
