This beautiful hymnal belongs to David Kolb at the Deep Run. Written the 8th of May A.D. 1783. To sing is on my mind.

Notes:
Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur and German script is in the center of the document. Above it are hearts with flowers, including tulips. In the lower corners are hearts. The entire item is framed by a border decorated with spirals. This bookplate is in the hymnal Geistreiches Gesang=Buch (Halle, Germany: In Verlegung des Waysenhauses, 1758). (PA GER Halle 1758 G279).
This bookplate was made by the schoolmaster Johann Adam Eyer for David Kolb (Kulp), who would later become a schoolmaster and fraktur artist himself. David Kulp was born in June 1777, so he was not yet seven years old when he received this bookplate.
