Robin Hood Dell, after 1950s renovation

Item Info

Item No: foc000874
Title: Robin Hood Dell, after 1950s renovation
Media Type: Photographic Prints
Source: Print and Picture Collection
Notes:

The original Robin Hood Dell was built in Fairmount Park in 1930, as a home for the Philadelphia Orchestra's outdoor summer seasons. A major renovation of the open air theater took place in 1955-56 (see the previous item, #foc000873), including a redesigned stage and a new overhanging partial roof.  As there is no available information about other renovations since then, this image of the improved Dell performance stage appears to be one of the results of that mid-1950s renovation.  Photographic print, 24.5 x 19.5 cm, undated.
