Image of the Matinee Musical Club of Philadelphia, an all-female music ensemble founded in 1894. It performed both vocal and instrumental concerts at a variety of venues, including the Academy of Music. The club was involved in fund-raising and publicity for the new Robin Hood Dell summer concert series of the Philadelphia Orchestra, which began in 1930. Although there is scant information about the club after 1904, this photograph was taken on April 29, 1930. Photographic print, 51 x 30 cm, 1930.
