Notes:
Created in June 2020 by Free Library Graphic Designer Nathanael Roesch as part of a series for his South Philadelphia neighborhood. The signs were offered to staff who donated money to progressive Black-focused charities during the country's civil unrest.
As this occurred during Pride Month, two nonprofits that support black LGBTQIA individuals were chosen. This sign was created for a split donation between New York City's Black Queer Town Hall and the Okra Project.
The Black Queer Town Hall featured three days of performances, discussions, and fundraising opportunities for #BlackLivesMatter, Black LGBTQ organizations, and local Black LGBTQ drag performers from June 19 - 21, 2020. Black Queer Town Hall featured a diverse collection of LGBTQ voices celebrating Black LGBTQ people and discussing pathways to dismantle racism and white supremacy.
The Okra Project is an online collective seeking to address the global crisis faced by Black Trans people by bringing home-cooked, healthy, and culturally specific meals and resources to Black Trans People.
