Renaissance Panel
The panel upon which this painting is executed has been prepared for the exclusive use of [handwritten] N. C. Wyeth, Esq.
The composition of the ground is based upon microchemical and historical investigations of renaissance painting grounds.
We offer here what we think is the ideal ground for the artist-painter, painting in oil colors.
Especially constructed ply board is treated with size, seasoned and then receives eight coats of gesso ground, each of a special and individual consistency, separately seasoned and rubbed down.
The result is what we honestly believe to be the finest, best, and most permanent and reliable artists panel, which should neither crack, peel or check, nor affect in any manner the chemical composition of the artists' paint. Unlike an oil ground, this foundation will not lower the tone of the painting upon ageing.
The back and edges of this panel are given the greatest degree of protection by means of sizing, varnish, oil paint and a specially prepared preservative compound of bees wax.
Custom-made to the order of the individual artist painter.
