Notes:
Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The main text in Fraktur and German script within a heart is in the center of the document. The place and date in German script within a rectangular frame are below it. The heart is surrounded on the sides and top by leafy, flowering vines. Along the upper border is a swag or curtain. The entire document is framed by a decorative border. This bookplate has been removed from the Testament for which it was made.
A similar bookplate was made for Ephraim Detweiler in 1857 by an anonymous artist (See FLP 240); this bookplate appears to be a copy of the 1856 example initialed by “S.F.”.
