Notes:

On the front page of this issue, Clarence J. Elmer, who has long been endeared to the followers of Lubin pictures and whose work at all times has been of sterling calibre. We, of this plant, look upon Clarence, as we all best know him, as the “ever-ready feller” to jump in and put up a delineation of a character which will put the necessary punch and “pep” in a picture, or as the occasion requires to go to the room and come back dolled up for one of the best little juveniles around here.

You all know his work so well that it isn’t necessary to repeat what he has done in the past, but for the future don’t overlook the sterling performance he is putting up with Director Clay M. Greene in the role of the hunchback in a picture which is to be known to you as “The Deformed” — also the dandy piece of acting in “The Ogre and the Girl.” You’re going to see Clarence Elmer more often in the future for he has demonstrated that he’s entitled to a great big bundle of recognition.

June Daye in “Heartaches” — it’s a pleasure to be able to write of pictures of the calibre of this four reeler which Director Kaufman has made — only that adjectives fail and the superlative isn’t forceful enough to sing the complete praises of little June Daye, the star — of Daniel Carson Goodman, the author — and of Joe Kaufman, the director — in fact, of everybody at all concerned in this masterpicee and that means both “you and us.” Go get the best one you’ve ever seen, bring it in and compare it with “Heartaches” and I’ll wager a goodly bet that you’ll pin the medal on “Heartaches” — It’s safely the greatest big feature that has ever been put into four reels and you will say so right along with us. It’s a tip I’m proud to be able to give you — throw in the high and go book this a. o.

Francis Joyner and Helen Greene form a duo hard to beat in the release of December twenty-third, a three reeler “Beyond All is is Love” which comes from the pen of Daniel Carson Goodman. Helen Greene in the role of Virginia Wells, makes her bow as a feminine lead with Lubin and if our calculations are not all askew, we believe you're going to tell us how much you like her and her work and how much you desire

to see her in more leads in the future — we are anticipating that to the extent of a prophecy.

In the Billie Reeves comedy, "No Smoking," release of Saturday, December twenty-fifth, Earl Metcalfe, the director, says there is the most apropos Christmas comedy which has ever been conceived. He lays particular stress on the teaching it will give us all as to the proper disposition of those "X mas Seegars" such as all men are subjected to at this time of the year. And incidentally Billie Reeves insists that the next cigar comedy will have to be done with “Corona-Corona’s” or not at all.

Saved from the Harem, “the four-reel dramatic subject which forms part of the Unit Program release of December twenty-seventh has a distinguished member in its cast in the person of Admiral Howard, former Commander of the Pacific Fleet, who with his men and the U. S. S. Colorado play a prominent part. The picture abounds with wonderful and intimate views of the warship in action.

Gracing the yard these days we see the eminent Tom Moore of that famous Moore family of photo-players. Tom has been persuaded to join the Lubin forces and will be seen both in the long and short reel subjects in the future. Much more is to be said in the days to come of the former Kalem star.

Add to the Lubin Zoo, the following:

George Spink's "Did you ever hear this one?"

Helen Greene's "Billie the blooded hound."

Craufurd Kent's "Nearly a Flivver."

Earl Metcalfe "self starter.”

June Daye's "bundle of male.”

Clarence Elmer's "Ambition."

and

Yours Truly's " Myrtle, the hurricane.”
