Translation:

Dear child, use the time and keep yourself from unjust matters. Praise the Lord, my soul, my Lord, my God, you are very great, you are beautiful and splendidly adorned. Light is your clothing that you are wearing, you spread out the sky like a rug, you cover it on top with water, you ride on the clouds as on a wagon, and travel on the wings of the wind, you who makes your angels from winds, winds, and your servants from the flames of fire. Written the 17th of December 1818.

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text, with the first three lines in Fraktur and the remainder in German script, extends across the entire document. The first two words, and especially the initial letters, are displayed in particularly prominent and ornate calligraphy. The text is bordered on the sides and on top by a border of leafy stems of flowers. Additional flowers and rosettes are around the first letter and above the first two words.
This fraktur is part of a series of Vorschriften and bookplates dating between 1815 and 1818 associated with the Salford Mennonite community. For other examples in this series, see FLP B-40, a bookplate dated 1818 for Maria Friedt, and 514, a Vorschrift.
