5,000 signatures were collected, to petition City Council to erect a library branch for the Haddington-Carroll Park community. Funding for the Haverford Branch was approved in 1976. In this photograph, the site for the new branch is being inspected by Councilman Edgar C. Campbell, Deputy Director Donald Hunt, and City Council President George X. Schwartz. Ground was broken in 1978, and the library opened on September 5, 1979. |
