Bruni was a humanist, an historian, and also the Chancellor of Florence from 1410-1411 and 1427-1444, the year that he died. This manuscript was written in that same year, a fact that is known from the note written by the scribe wrote at the end of the book that gives his name and the date of completion.
This page also includes the coats of arms, motto "Sic Necesse Est" (thus it is necessary), and monogram, IO and M, which probably belonged to the person for whom the manuscript was made.
