Notes:
The new Series III was quite an ambitious project for Alain Clenet, the 36 year-old designer and driving force behind Clenet Coachworks, but he had the accumulated knowledge and solid success of the original Series I Roadster and Series II Cabriolet to build upon. Like the first two original design, limited edition Clenets, the all steel unibody constructed Series III is handcrafted of the finest international materials such as English lambswool, Connolly leather, Danish teakwood and burled walnut. Clenet’s five million dollar, 100,000 square foot facility in Santa Barbara, California is presently gearing up for the parallel production of the Series II and III. With Clenet’s international dealer network, the company anticipates that the current model, the Series II 4-passenger Cabriolet, will complete its limited production of 250 units by early 1982. The parallel production of two automobiles with completely different engineering requirements, Series II being a standard frame and chassis system with the Series III a state-of-the-art unibody, is a first for Clenet, but a necessary step for the future product expansion and independence.
Creation Year: ca. 1982
