Future world auto parts to make cars lighter and improve fuel economy are being tested by materials engineers at Chrysler Corporation. The parts, essentially reinforced plastics, range from graphite fiber driveshaft to plastic headlamps. The parts are installed in an experimental PXL (Polymeric Extra Light) mid-size car, nicknamed the “Poly-car”.
