Dear Sir
I beg to assure you that I have never taken the least offence against the Managers of your Institution, and that i have never had the faintest cause for any, and that I regard it with the most cordial interest and good will. My books were sent by my direction, straight from the Publishers; and this is the sole cause of my not having written in them.
On the other side, I send you a few words, which can be inserted where you think best.
Believe me
Very faithfully Yours
Charles Dickens
