My Dear Sir Charles
The undersigned charmer was extremely sorry to lose you last night.. He handed your generous donation to the Secretary, by whom it was duly announced. You will be glad to hear that the Dinner was very successful, and that the subscriptions amounted to the -as far as I know- unprecedented sum of £ 3,000.
