 Chevrolet's Corvette ZR1...will be availalbe in spring 1989. It will feature the first all-aluminum producgion engine of its type to be built throughout the world for anything other than racing competition. The LT5 engine- available only in the ZR1 option package- combines dedicated high-performance design with long-term durability and fuel economy above minimum federal levels. The 32-valve, double overhead cam all-aluminum V8 will produce zero-to-60 times in the 4.2 second range. A Bi-Modal (two-cars-in-one) vehicle, the Corvette ZR1 can be transformed by its driver from a street machine into a vehicle offering the speed, precision and responsiveness of all but pure race cars. Safety features- including braking and cornering power in excess of 1g- will help make the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 the permier sports car on the planet.
