Improving on a Masterpiece... is the only way to describe the 1987 Chevrolet Corvette, America's fastest production vehicle that continues its "World Class" status by adding new features and optiosn to improve performance, appearance, convenience and reliability. There's no break with tradition since there's really no way to distinguish the '87 'Vette from the '86 version-- at least not externally. The Corvette roadster, added midway through the 1986 model year as the pace car for the Indy"500", continues into '87 with the coupe. A key change to the powerful 5.7 liter Tuned Port Injeciton (TPI) V8 engine is the addition of anti-friction, roller-hydraulic lifters tha tare wroth about a 3 percent fuel economy boost.
