Notes:
Whirlwind--The Chaparral 2J, latest creation of driver-engineer Jim Hall, will be introduced in the first U.S. race of teh 1970 Canadian-American Challenge Cup series, July 12, at Watkins Glen, N.Y. The car employs a pair of two-foot-diameter fans (above) which "suck" air out from underneath the car to increase its traction in accelerating, braking and cornering. Stirling Moss (left, below), director of racing for Can-Am sponsor Johnson Wax, inspected the new "Ground effect" car during a recent visit with Hall (right) at the latter's Midland, Texas headquarters.
