Notes: This initial begins the antiphon for the feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, "O gloriosum lumen omnium ecclesiarum ..." (O glorious light of all the churches ...). The scene depicted is the moment when, on the way to Damascus, Christ appears in a vision to Saul, who falls from his horse and is blinded by a heavenly light. Saul, whose name became Paul after his conversion, then continued to Damascus and became a disciple of Christ.
