Item No: mca1880812
Additional Title: Psalter, glossed
Script:
Gothic hybrida
Language: Latin
Folio Number: f. 81v
Original Year/Month/Day: 1430
Source: Rare Book Department
Notes: A colophon at the end of the Psalms (f. 125r) dates this manuscript to 1430.
Notes: Beginning of Psalm 103
Notes: The decorated initial B on this page begins Psalm 103, "Benedic anima mea Domino ?" (Bless the Lord, O my soul). In addition to the Psalms, this psalter contains commentary on the text in the form of an interlinear gloss. The size of the script was used to distinguish Scripture (the large script) from the gloss (the smaller script). Although space has been left for the addition of gloss between each of the lines, the scribe did not add any gloss for Psalm 103. The gloss breaks off at the end of the previous Psalm and does not begin again until Psalm 104.
