 All 1971 regular size Buicks, with or without air conditioning, feature positive blower-fed ventilation. The heater or air conditioning motor runs continuously at low speed after the engine reaches normal operating temperature and forces outside air into the passenger compartment through three outlet areas in the instrument panel. Air flow (shown by arrows) is around the front seat, under the rear seat and through cutouts in the seat-back barrier to the trunk. A 6-inch hole in each side of the trunk inner panel allows air to flow to the outside through louvres in the outer panel. Water entering the louvres is kept out of the trunk by dams around the vent holes and is directed to one-way outlets in the bottom of the deck lid.
