Buick's New Riviera
Fling, Mich.-- The handsome Buick Roadmaster Riviera, which has set the pattern for a completely new trend in automotive styling, will make its 1950 bow to the public at the General Motors Mid-Century Motorama in New York next week. Now in volume production, the Riviera is a spacious six-passenger luxury coupe. It has the appearance of a convertible but has a fixed, steel top. Its wide push-button controlled windows and narrow rear corner pillars with wrap-around window give driver and passengers vision in all directions. These features, coupled with greatly increased luggage space, make this virtually an all-purpose car. UItilizing the Buick-pioneered combination bumper and grille, the car is inches shorter than its predecessor and with its more powerful engine performance has been greatly improved. Dynaflow, Buick's exclusive all-oil ptransmission, and the graceful sweep spear modling which accentuates the flowing lines of the taper-through fenders, are standard equipment on the Riviera, the price of which has been reduced $310 for 1950.
