"And now the climate was colder - the mountains higher 

The long rule of reptiles was slowly to end - one by one the great families disappeared the flying [illegible] and walking reptiles disappeared - never to be seen again except in fossils in the Natural History Museums - flowering plants had taken over for the conifers - little warm blooded mammals and birds remained."
