Almost a year ago, David Bowie passed into the stars. His fans in Philly mourned, then organized Philly Loves Bowie Week, a weeklong celebration of the Starman: over a dozen events launch across the city from January 6 to the 14, commemorating Bowie and raising awareness for cancer research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

On Thursday January 12, join rebel (rebel) poets CA Conrad and Frank Sherlock, DJ Robert Drake, librarians, and more to discover Bowie in our City.

You’ll hear what Bowie means to crafters of words and music, and librarians will share special Bowie resources that Philadelphia’s musicians, music researchers and music students depend on from our City’s libraries. 

Plus, Drexel Audio Archives Director and Associate Professor, Toby Seay, who oversees the Young Americans tapes housed at the university, as well as Sigma Sound engineer Peter Humphries - the assistant sound engineer on Young Americans will also be featured in this scholarly show and tell.  They’ll share dispatches from the Archives and Audio world from when Bowie was most famously viewing our city as a muse in the 1970s.

We’ll have Bowie’s favorite books and albums out too for you to take home with your library card.
