Jared Radichel plays the lute
Art Department at Parkway Central Library
Jared Radichel plays the lute in the Art & Literature Department balcony.
Jared Radichel is a musician, mainly performing with the Philadelphia-based bands Carnivorous Bells and Cartoon, as well as a library assistant at the FLP's Philadelphia City Institute. More recently, he has been exploring the wealth of music composed and arranged for the Renaissance lute, with a particular interest in arrangements of early vocal works. After receiving a grant from the city’s Illuminate the Arts program, he was able to commission local artist Don Miller to build him a 6-course lute based on various historical models. This will be his first time performing on the instrument.
Jared will be playing various pieces by composers Francesco da Milano, Hans Newsidler, and Hans Judenkunig, and some pieces from the Capirola Lute Book.
