(Bird) Feet are Neat!
Andorra Library
Have you ever wondered why don’t all birds have the same kind of feet? Join us as we explore the amazing world of bird foot adaptations! In this hands-on program, kids will discover how birds have different types of feet specially designed for where they live and what they eat. From powerful talons for hunting to webbed toes for swimming, we’ll investigate how feet help birds survive and thrive in their habitats.
This program is part of Go Birds: Appreciating Our Avian Friends, an exhibition in the 2nd Floor West Gallery at the Parkway Central Library running from June 2nd to August 30th, 2025.
Birds have long captivated humankind with their graceful flight, unique plumage, and enchanting songs. Adapting to natural and built environments, birds have physical and innate characteristics that help them survive. Beyond the dangers of the natural world, birds are also affected by human-imposed hazards. With many conservation challenges facing avian species today, there is an urgent need to safeguard bird habitats for generations to come.
Whether you are a seasoned birder or simply curious about the feathered friends in your neighborhood, this exhibition offers a chance to reflect on these incredible creatures and the ways in which we observe, depict, and protect them.
