Sound The Chimes of My Abstract Body
Art Department at Parkway Central Library
The final event of artist Ana Woulfe’s residency in the art department ! An exhibition featuring four original drawings inspired by trans history that she researched using the library catalog, comics drawn at the library and The World's Tallest Comic hanging up from the ceiling of our main room. Head to the Art Department any time we are open to read comics by Ana Woulfe in our Philadelphia Comics Collection and browse some library selections by Ana here.
Ana also invited friends Fred Williams and Carrie DeCunzo to participate ! Fred is showing original drawings plus large paper quilts of his work, while Carrie will be doing a performance on the libraries internal chime system and showing a new sound installation.
Carrie DeCunzo is a musician, composer, and installation artist. She received her MFA from Mills College in Electronic Music and Recording Media and teaches piano privately. Carrie, in collaboration with artist-in-residence Ana Wolfe, will perform a piece she composed for the library chimes at the beginning of Ana’s exhibition. The short piece will will serve to ritualize the commencement of the show and will be followed by a sound installation in the Art & Literature Department.
Meet us in the Parkway Central Lobby at 12pm and then head upstairs to the 2nd floor Art Department. Be sure to check out the exhibition cases in the Art hallway gallery as well as the Literature hallway gallery in addition to the art hanging in our hall.
